If only it were that simple…

 

Being told to relax in labour is rarely helpful — in fact, it can do the opposite. Unless you’ve learnt how to relax your body and mind, those words can just make you tense up even more, which can actually slow labour.

 

Relaxation is a skill — something to be practised, not demanded. When you know how to anchor yourself into a calm, confident state, your body can work with you, not against you. 

That’s exactly what we do in my Pregnancy Relaxation Course — you’ll learn how to truly let go, connect with your body and baby, and prepare for a smoother, calmer birth.

What can I expect in a pregnancy relaxation class?

This is a beautiful chance to pause, connect with your baby, and feel more empowered as you get closer to birth.

 

In my 4-week Pregnancy Relaxation & Birth Preparation Course, we’ll get cosy with a hot drink and over 1hr 15mins each week explore:

 

  • Creating the perfect, oxytocin-friendly birth environment

  • Understanding fear and mindset in childbirth

  • Exploring your birthing preferences

  • Preparing your body and baby for labour with gentle stretches, exercises & upright positions. 

We'll end each session with a guided relaxation. This isn't scary or something that you need to 'get right' - its an enjoyable treat to just stop and really relax.

Plymouth Venue

The venue is located in central Plymouth at 9, The Crescent, Plymouth, PL1 3AB, close to The Hoe and a short walk from the Town centre. Free parking at the venue can be reserved upon booking. 

Active Mums Plymouth have exclusive use of this Ground Floor space in the evenings. 

I create a cosy, relaxing, candlelit environment with music and aromatherapy oils where you can feel calm, safe and feel the benefits of relaxation for you and your baby. 

About me

Hello, I'm Debbie and I'm a certified Hypnobirthing Instructor and have held group workshops and private 1:1 Hypnobirthing courses in and around Plymouth since Spring 2024. 

Pregnancy is a busy time and you can often get caught up in 'when the baby has arrived' and forget to focus on or shy away from preparing for labour and birth. That's why I run pregnancy relaxation and birth prep courses - to give you a little bit of knowledge and confidence, whilst providing a space for you to feel safe to ask questions, meet other local expectant mums and allow yourself to pause and connect.
